  2. Nice images.

The thing I like most about this composition is that both images are interesting on their own, and capture enough of the scene to tell a story, despite the creative use of DOF. They don't need to accompany each other, but when they do, you can see the interesting things that can be done when creatively using DOF. In the first image my eye is instantly drawn to the flag, and then the blurred stone to the left. In the second, it's straight to the stone on the left. The only suggestions I can think of would be to slightly increase the exposure, as I think the foreground is slightly darker, due to the camera adjusting to the brighter background. Also, if the second photo were a stand-alone image (which it's not, as it was taken for a specific assignment), I would suggest setting the blurred flag off to the side so it doesn't cut through the image quite so much.

I really like the composition of this image, with the subject taking up most of the frame and the blurred background providing the context of being outdoors on a nice sunny day. I really like the constrat between light and dark, and the colours and textures of the moss especially. You've creatively used DOF here, however my eye struggles to figure out where too focus. With such a shallow DOF only a very small part of the image is in perfect focus, and I think this image could be even more interesting with a slightly wider DOF (but not too wide! Maybe f/4?).
